Lithium Battery Fire Safety Awareness – In-Person Event

U-M faculty and staff are invited to join the Battery LabEV Center, and U-M EHS team for an afternoon focused on battery fire safety. Sessions include presentations, Q&A, hands-on fire extinguisher training (first 30 participants), and a controlled demonstration featuring a nail penetration test led by Battery Lab Director Greg Less, with lecture support from Jason Siegel.

IES Energy Symposium – In-Person Event on Energy’s Biggest Question

Hosted by the Institute for Energy Solutions, this two-day symposium brings together thought leaders to tackle big questions: Can the grid handle AI? What’s next for nuclear? What makes communities embrace new energy infrastructure? Among the featured sessions is one on lithium-ion battery storage safety co-led by Jason Siegel.

Battery Lab Short Course – Hands-On Training

Held onsite at the U-M Battery Lab, this four-day course provides hands-on experience with every aspect of building a battery—from electrode mixing to testing protocols and beyond. The curriculum blends classroom instruction with lab-based learning, ideal for engineers, chemists, and materials scientists scaling battery innovation in their organizations.

A customized version is also available for industrial partners.
