creating a state-of-the-art hub for eV research, education, and collaboration

Expanding & Enhancing Our Physical Spaces

Facility Expansion is a critical pillar at the EVC, embodying our commitment to creating a state-of-the-art hub for electric vehicle research, education, and collaboration.

As we envision the EVC evolving, this pillar focuses on expanding and enhancing our physical spaces – including the pivotal Battery Lab.

Our goal is to develop facilities that not only cater to advanced research and training but also provide inviting spaces for meetings, events, and collaboration. The expansion of these facilities is key to fostering an environment conducive to innovation and growth, ensuring the EVC’s long-term leadership in the electric mobility sector.

The Battery Lab at the University of Michigan is a full-service battery cell fabrication and testing facility open to any academic or industry user. It was established in 2015 as the nation’s first university-based pilot line, and today it’s the only one located in the heart of the auto industry.

We aim to open Battery Lab 2.0 in 2024, equipped with the latest technology and research capabilities.
